Headwall Photonics, Inc., headquartered in Bolton, MA, is a leading provider of a wide range of optical components and assemblies including master holographic gratings, micro lens arrays, waveguides, spectrographs and spectrometers. A key player in Headwall's Optical Components & Assemblies business, the Strategic Business Development Manager will leverage Headwall's broad range of capabilities to identify new opportunities and expand existing business within the Life Sciences, Medical, Defense & Aerospace, Metrology and Consumer Electronics markets. This position is the primary interface for Headwall to a large and diverse customer list. This position requires a demonstrated success in account management and business development.

Primary Functions:

Account Management:

  • Works with existing and potential customers in conjunction with engineering and operations to deliver quotations/proposals to secure repeat OEM business and new long-term programs.
  • Functions as the primary Account Manager for Optical Components & Assemblies customers across the Headwall and Holographix businesses.
  • Develops, and documents within our CRM, intimate knowledge of all key customer requirements, operations, and forecasts.
  • Responsible for maintaining and profitably growing business for all key accounts.
  • Manage all aspects of the pre- and post-sales process to drive customer satisfaction.
  • Balance customer advocacy with company goals

Business Development:

  • Identify, develop, and secure new opportunities within existing and new accounts while leveraging Headwall's range of optical components & assemblies capabilities
  • Develop relationships within target accounts that can benefit from Headwall's Optical Component & Assembly capabilities.
  • Interact and coordinate with Headwall's Senior Management Team to develop strategies to expand our business within target markets.

Qualifications:

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated success in OEM component/assembly sales
  • Professional, analytical, and intrinsically self-motivated
  • History of long-term successful Strategic Account Management
  • Strong business ethics and sense of accountability
  • Ability to travel to customers both domestic and abroad up to 50%

Education/Experience:

  • BS in Optics, Physics, or other technical engineering degree
  • 7-10 years in related optics/photonics technical sales position
  • Excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and CRM package
